Americans, Stop the Hypocrysy and Start Acting!

I'm so sick of all this American drama and hypocrisy!!! Take the tv show called "America's Got Talent", add in a soldier who's just returned from Iraq, spice it up with regular singing skills and what do you get? A whole new level of screaming in awe, appreciation and national pride. I'm pretty sure this guy wouldn't have gone through to the next level had he not been wearing that military uniform. The judges were in tears, and they even called his wife to join him on stage, while the audience were waving their hands as if they were attending a friggin' Michael Jackson concert or something. Not to mention the hero's exit ("hero" being one of the few terms I don't use lightly here), covered by Mariah Carey's song... ta-da-da!!! Hero, obviously.
My dearest Americans (although I should say "United Staters", since "Americans" refers to the people living all over the three American continents), if you appreciate your troops that much, why do you keep on voting for that amazing President of yours, Bush, who cares about nothing else than money and oil? If you cherish your army men so much, why do you support the war in Iraq and swallow all the bs that the Government is feeding you? Or are you in such a need for heroes that you'd rather send young people to war zones and get them wounded, or even dead, instead of letting them stay home and enjoy life together with their families, just like the rest of you? I guess the U.S. of A. are nothing without all that fake appreciation and crocodile tears. Maybe you don't feel like you have enough to be proud of, so you need to create your own plastic reasons by sending people to die for utopic rights and liberties. No matter what your reasons are, at least stop pretending to care after the harm has been done and learn to accept your guilt.

Politistii balerini

"Just in Time for Valentine's Day"

Valentine's Day is an occasion I look forward to because I consider it to be the most beautiful holiday, after Christmas. I don't care that it's an American holiday, I also celebrated it when I lived in Romania; for now I find myself in Canada, so it's even easier for me to succumb to its hearty spirit. The only thing that annoys me about Valentine's Day (and the same goes for Christmas) is the commercial aura it's gained during the last decades. Besides all the heart-shaped candy boxes and the red teddy bears, what gets my annoyance really going are those diamond commercials where I hear the phrase "just in time for Valentine's Day". Oh, really? Hmmm... guess I hadn't realized how lucky we are that all this jewelry goes on sale right before Valentine's Day! Isn't that just amazing? Guess I should go stock up on those diamonds, maybe next year there won't be a sale "just in time for Valentine's Day".

Give Me a Synonym for "Dictionary"

Earlier today, in an attempt to relax for half an hour, in between my studies, I played a silly game that sometimes makes me more nervous than calm. This was the case today, but this time the players had me exclaim "how stupid can one be?!!". Instead of enjoying the game, I had to fight with people, while trying to explain them the Thesaurus IS a dictionary. "No, dictionaries give definitions of words, this one gives words with the same meaning". Am I going crazy or this is plain ignorance? "OK", I said, "it's a SYNONYM dictionary"!
I don't know, I was just extremely shocked by this episode... blah!

Chris Crocker Is NOT an Exponent of Gay Men!

Everyone has heard by now of Chris Crocker, the big Britney fan who made a whole scene over the negative attention his idol, sister, friend, model, whatever received. I'm not planning on discussing that issue, no words of mine could do justice to his performance. There was a different aspect that disturbed me regarding this huge "Chris Crocker effect", and that would be the image he casts on homosexual people and the way the media perceives his protest.
In the following clip the star wannabe complains about how hard gay men have it compared to women, bringing up issues like STD tests, shaving and a bunch of other dramas he has to go through. According to him, women's monthly problems or birth-giving pain are nothing compared to his excruciating efforts of looking pretty. First of all, you don't have to shave your hair every day just because you are homosexual. I've met men who dated other men and still looked gorgeous with a beard, had a very masculine allure and lived a normal, dignifying life. They didn't need to act like a drama queen in order to express their homosexuality. Second of all, you wouldn't need to take all those STD tests if you stopped running between dates and considered actually having a fulfilling relationship with only one person.

Now, about the media's attitude; I'm so sick of reading titles like "Gay People Fight Over Britney" or "Gay Men Defend Britney"! That generalization has no common sense. As far as I know, there were only two homosexual men who took attitude over Britney's performance: Chris Crocker and Perez Hilton. Why would you automatically assume that they represent all gay people out there? Not all homosexuals are obsessed with celebrities or are celebrities themselves, and, more importantly, I believe many gay people were outraged by Crocker's material and attitude. They don't need to be represented by anyone, and especially not by some weirdo who doesn't do them any good and casts an even bigger shadow over gay people. No, there are homosexuals who DO NOT behave like that Crocker individual, do not condone that type of acting and to whom Britney Spears's career presents no interest.

Un nou tag... de la Cetin

Aici chiar m-a nimerit! Macar sa folosesc si eu in sens "constructiv" tema pe seama careia sotul meu face mereu glume in ceea ce ma priveste. Simtul meu olfactiv este mult prea dezvoltat! Ce miros, ce mirosuri imi produc senzatii speciale?

1. Cand eram in New York, mi se intampla foarte des sa spun ca miroase "a Constanta", "a Romania" sau a "Buzau", locurile care mi-au marcat copilaria si tineretea. Nu ma intrebati in ce constau acele mirosuri... nu le-as putea descrie. In Montreal nu prea mai miroase a nimic...
Nici prea mult, nici prea putin, doar cat sa-l poti inspira si sa-i simti masculinitatea... imi cam place "cuvantul" acesta!
5. Mirosul aerului de primavara, simtit in urma unei plimbari prin parc. Mirosul de viata... iubesc viata!

Paciencia

Ce vei citi cand te intorci in Canada cea urata? Think, think...

Second Life Game

When a friend of ours first mentioned the game "SL", I started laughing; I thought he was just trying to be ironic, since he had been informed of the amount of time we spend on the internet. Nevertheless, he assured us he was being serious: there is this new game that enables internet users to lead a parallel life while on the computer. In exchange for a certain amount of money, anyone can become a member of this community and they can start building a "new" life. From waking up in the morning, taking a shower and driving to work to buying and selling various products, the possibilities are endless. The only thing is, in order to do all this you need to use Linden Dollars, a virtual currency exchangeable for US Dollars. That's right, you get to pay all the commodities that you're not actually going to be able to enjoy by using money you've worked for in your real life. Our friend was saying that one "restaurant owner" sold the place for about $300.000; from all the customers he got, the buyer managed to recover and even surpass his investment in a very short amount of time.

I was, and still am, blown away. Isn't it enough that so many of us list the internet as one of the top addictions, that we have so many attractions that keep us glued to our monitors and that childhood is not what it used to be, as outdoor games are being replaced by CS and other violent computer games? Now we need to find alternatives to escape our own existence? The only one (supposedly) we have? How stupid or desperate are we to pay real life sums for virtual houses and cars? It's just scary...

Cetin crede ca EU am vicii! Pfff! :P

Happy now?

Heartbroken... No Deal!

There's this show, "Deal or No Deal". What does it consist of? There are 26 cases, out of which the contestant has to pick one. Each suitcase contains a sum between 1 cent and $1.000.000. Then the contestant starts opening the remaining suitcases, and, after a certain number, he gets an offer from the banker, who calculates the odds of them getting a bigger or lower sum of money. It's a stupid, easy game from where you cannot leave with less than $100.000 unless you're extremely greedy or were born while Mr. Luck was away on vacation.
And... there's me. I've always wanted to take part in different game shows; that's one of my issues and I accept it :P. "Robingo" was on... I was there. Didn't make it because of my slow reflexes; I only managed to get 3 of the answers, because I was sloooooow, so I didn't make it past the selection (and I knew my stuff back then). I cried for days :). Then "Wheel of Fortune" came to Romania. I wasn't 18 yet, so I anxiously waited to reach that age... so the show could be stopped. Then I applied for "Perechea potrivita". Amazingly enough, I was called on the show; I got what I went for, and that was a trip to Budapest. Got to the States... they have "Jeopardy!", they have "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"... me, pick me, pick me! But various, "insignificant" legal issues wouldn't have allowed me to participate. I would've gone to the Millionaire, anyway, and would've sent my husband to Jeopardy!, I don't know enough to be on that show. Anyway... we got to Canada. No games, no shows, nada de nada. And then they tell me "Deal or No Deal" is coming. Made up my mind in a second. As soon as I get back from Romania, I'm there! Oh, not so fast! They only have 5 special shows and the selection took place in November. I could've goooone! You don't need anything for that show, except for some common sense and a few interesting life stories. Easy enough... but no! It wasn't meant to be! Those jerks :P!

Confusion, Again

What in the world is Jhoos?!!! Of course I know what it is, I had to check it out, my curiosity has no limits... neither does my "I've had enough!"- feeling. Why would an adorable friend of mine invite me to such a site? All I can say is that I'm tremendously happy to only have about 10 days of school left; I'll then have enough time to move my bed next to the computer, bring the fridge along as well and start browsing all these sites... hi5, tagged, Jhoos, Yahoo! 360 or something like that etc. ... I will also have the opportunity to discover many more others and even try sentimente, match... hmmmm, I should Google some more, it seems that I'm a bit behind, can't think of any others.
I appreciate the thought, I really do; I even play with hi5 sometimes, but I'm a poor, simple soul, that gets confused easily, is not too good with id's & passwords and needs 10 minutes to find a specific site in the looooong "bookmarks" list :P . I need professional help :D ! Someone... anyone :)) ?
